Turkey Shoots Down Syrian Helicopter that Entered Into Turkish Airspace
Published at(ISTANBUL) – A Syrian military helicopter was shot down by two Turkish fighter planes after it flew into airspace over Turkey.
Officials say the helicopter’s crew was repeatedly warned by radio as it approached Turkey’s southern border. When the helicopter strayed a mile across the border, the jets fired on it, officials said, and it crashed to the ground in Syria.
“No one, from now on, will dare to violate Turkish borders in any way,” said Turkish foreign minister Ahmed Davutoglu at a press conference in Paris.
