(NEW YORK) — Peyton Manning will make his return to Indianapolis on Sunday night against the team he spent 14 years with.
Manning and the Denver Broncos will take on the Colts and be honored with a pre-game ceremony.
“It’s hard to predict how I’ll feel emotionally,” Manning said on Wednesday about his return. “Football’s certainly an emotional game, but to predict how you’re going to feel, I just don’t know.”
Manning stressed that this isn’t the same Colts team that he played with.
“52 other guys that are counting on you, coaches that are counting on you to be prepared to play a good football team,” Manning said. “A team that it may sound strange, that’s unfamiliar. It’s an unfamiliar opponent, a lot of guys that I’ve never played against.”
Manning’s predecessor, Andrew Luck isn’t looking at it as a big showdown between the two.
“I never viewed it as replacing Peyton,” Luck said on Wednesday. “I just viewed it as an opportunity to play quarterback in the NFL. Just so happens one of the greats of all-time was here before me.”
