(PHILADELPHIA) — Just three months after acquiring him in a trade from the Houston Rockets, the Philadelphia 76ers have released forward Royce White.
The Rockets drafted White with the 16th pick in the 2012 draft, but he never played for the team. He averaged 5.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in five preseason games with one start for the 76ers.
White spent his entire rookie season on Houston’s inactive list as he worked on an arrangement to balance his acknowledged anxiety disorder with the demands of the NBA schedule. He would often take to social media to criticize the Rockets.
The Rockets suspended White in January after he refused to accept an assignment to Rio Grande Valley in the NBDL.
