(NEW YORK) — Anchorman fans have been treated to not one, but two new trailers for the film’s sequel, which will arrive in theaters in December.
A U.S. trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues shows Will Ferrell’s suave anchorman character, Ron Burgundy, riding down a highway in a van with his news pals: Paul Rudd’s Brian Fantana, David Koechner’s Champ Kind, and Steve Carell’s Brick Tamland.
Ron sits in the back with the others, informing them that the van is on cruise control. Shortly after, Brian clarifies to Ron that the cruise control function does not control the steering, the vehicle swerves and then flips, causing everyone to fly around inside the vehicle alongside bowling balls and scorpions that Ron inexplicably brought along for the ride.
Eventually, the crew shows up injured at their new home, the cable news network GNN in New York City. They struggle to adjust to life at GNN and the fact that it’s run by an African-American woman and one of their colleagues is gay.
In addition, we see Brick freak out when his legs “disappear” in front of a green screen, simply because he is wearing green pants.
The other trailer is for the U.K. audience and is more racy. In one segment, we see Ron, Brian and Champ reporting on crack by smoking the drug at the anchor desk. We also see an appearance by Anchorman newcomer Harrison Ford’s character, who declares, “Mr. Burgundy, you are the worst anchorman I have ever seen.”
The trailers also show Ron trying to rebound from his romance with rival anchor Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will open on Dec. 20.
