(FORT WORTH, Texas) — Carl Edwards took home the pole on Friday for Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Edwards has a qualifying lap of 196.114 mph to secure the pole. Sprint Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson had the third-fastest time and Brad Keselowski finished ahead of him.
The last two winners at Texas Motor Speedway have started on the pole and Edwards is hoping for the same result.
“This is all about the guys,” Edwards said of his team testing so hard at the track. “My guys just put in a lot of hard work.”
Three races remain in the season and Johnson and Matt Kenseth tied for the chase lead.
“Matt and I have always had a respect for one another on the track,” Johnson said. “We’ve been able to get to that line and respect each other on the track.”
