Craig Claims FEC Penalty “Unfair”
Published at | Updated at
(BOISE, ID) – Former U.S. Sen. Larry Craig says a penalty of $360,000 from federal elections regulators is too harsh. Craig is accused of illegally using campaign funds to finance his legal defense, following a 2007 arrest during a airport bathroom sex sting. Craig’s attorneys also maintain that he can’t afford to pay the fines anyway, and that his use of campaign funds was justified because he was on official business at the time of his arrest. The FEC will have a chance to respond to Craig’s arguments in court next month
