Mario Chalmers provided a spark for the Heat, (8-3) going on a personal 9-0 scoring run in a 39-second span of the third period which proved to be enough for the two-time defending champs.

The Heat were without guard Dwayne Wade and used their sixth starting lineup in 11 games, but none of that mattered to LeBron James.

“We don’t ever want it to seem usual,” James said. “We want guys in the lineup but health is number one for our team, for sure. Like I continue to state, the best thing about it is when guys go down we’ve got depth and guys who can step in and play a starting role.”

Forward Mike Scott led the Hawks (6-5) with 15 points.
