Police Monitoring Railroad Crossings
Published at | Updated at(POCATELLO, ID) – Area law enforcement officers will be closely monitoring railroad crossings today. It’s all part of the annual Operation Lifesaver initiative, which aims to educate the public about safety at railroad crossings. This year alone, there have been 15 collisions involving vehicles and trains in the Gem State, resulting in 2 fatalities. Today’s efforts will include placing officers on trains as spotters, who will then radio to other police in patrol cars if they see drivers running stop signs or red lights at railroad crossings.
