(NEW YORK) — James Harden scored 36 points as the Houston Rockets outlasted the New York Knicks 109-106 on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
Jeremy Lin scored 21 points in his return to New York for the Rockets, (6-4) who held on to win despite a 45-point, 10-rebound effort from Carmelo Anthony.
“Jeremy stepped up, James played big and that’s what we need,” Rockets center Dwight Howard said after scoring seven points and pulling down 15 rebounds.
Harden returned to action after missing Wednesday night’s overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. He scored seven-straight points for the Rockets late in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
The Knicks (3-5) have lost four-straight at home.
