Sony PlayStation 4 Hits Store Shelves
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — The moment many video gamers have been waiting for has finally arrived: Sony’s PlayStation 4 is now on sale.
The next-generation gaming console hit store shelves Friday morning, a week before another new video game system, Microsoft’s Xbox One, becomes available.
Starting at $399, the PS4 has a number of critical improvements over the current PlayStation 3, which was introduced seven years ago. Most notably, the system has been souped up with added graphics and processing horsepower, boasting an eight-core x86 processor and 8GB of RAM.
The console also comes with a new DualShock 4 controller, which is equipped with a new share button for social media integration and a new sensor that will allow the PS4’s Kinect-like camera depth-and-motion sensor to read where the player is.
