The Irish and Scarlet Knights trading punches the enitre first half and headed into halftime tied at 13. The Irish hit a field goal in the third quarter to make it 16-13 before blowing the game open in the fourth.

Cam McDaniel ran for 80 yards leading the way for the Notre Dame rushing attack that accounted for 175 yards.

Notre Dame (9-4) won the turnover battle 4-1, picking off Rutgers four times.

Fighting Irish senior quarterback Tommy Rees completed 27 of 47 passes for 319 yards in the win.

“I loved the way we were able to stay calm and stay within our offense and continue to kind of monotonously move the ball down the field,” Rees said.

Rutgers (6-7) was outgained 494-236 in total yards in the loss.

Notre Dame improves to 17-6-3 at Yankee Stadium.
