Idaho Farmers Getting Less Subsidies
Published at(BOISE, ID) – Idaho’s farmers received 17 percent less in federal subsidies in 2013 than they did the year before. Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture say farmers will likely continue to receive less federal assistance over the coming years. Both Republicans and Democrats in Congress have been battling over the $500 billion farm bill, which awards grants to farmers whether they plant or not. Both sides have expressed strong disagreement as to the future of crop subsidies.
