(MINNEAPOLIS) — Joan Mondale, the wife of former Vice President Walter Mondale, died Monday afternoon, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. She was 83.
The Star Tribune reported that over the weekend, Mrs. Mondale had been moved into a hospice facility from her home in Minneapolis.
Mondale, who promoted the arts during her husband’s vice presidency, died surrounded by family, including her husband and two sons, Ted and William.
Memorial services are scheduled to take place Saturday in downtown Minneapolis.
