Davis originally fell just one short vote of making the team by the coaches, but now he’ll have a chance to play in front of the hometown fans as this year’s All-Star game is being played in New Orleans.

“It’s a great opportunity for me. I’m excited to play in the game, “Davis said. “When coach [Monty Williams] said it, I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say. I’m glad they chose me. I’ll try to go out and represent New Orleans and the Pelicans.”

In his second NBA season, Davis is blossoming into one of the best young big men in the NBA and is living up to the expectations placed on him when they made him the number one overall pick of the 2012 Draft.

In 41 games this season, the 20-year-old Davis is averaging 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and an NBA-leading 3.24 blocks per game for New Orleans this season.
