GETTY 021014 Firefighters? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1392081425085Fuse/Thinkstock(PETERBOROUGH, N.H.) — At least 15 people were injured in a major explosion Monday at the New Hampshire Ball Bearings plant in Peterborough, N.H.

Surrounding towns sent rescue personnel, including around 100 firefighters, to the scene at the aerospace manufacturing plant, where nearly 400 employees fled the building. Casualites have not been reported.

New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan says everyone has been accounted for. Several workers suffered burn injuries.

“We’re here at the emergency operations center, which we’ve opened, so that we can coordinate a response,” she said Monday. “In typical New Hampshire fashion, folks from all the local communities as well as some state are working together to respond to this.”

What could have caused the explosion is not yet clear.
