Cooney went 9 for 12 from beyond the arc, matching Gerry McNamara, Andy Rautins and James Southerland for the Syracuse 3-point record.

Syracuse (22-0, 9-0 ACC) was playing its first game this season as the number-one ranked team in the land.

While Cooney couldn’t seem to miss, the same couldn’t be said about his teammates.

Cooney hit 11 of 15 shots from the field while the rest of the team only made 31% of its shots.

Despite the shooting woes, Syracuse led the final 31 minutes of the game.

Garrick Sherman led Notre Dame (12-11, 3-7 ACC) with 16 points and eight rebounds.
