(BALTIMORE) — The Baltimore Orioles have signed left-handed pitcher Johan Santana to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced on Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 34-year-old Santana missed all of last season after undergoing a second operation on his left shoulder.
The 12-year MLB veteran previously played for the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets, where he complied a record of 139-78 with a 3.20 ERA. He has struck out 1,988 batters in 2,025 2-3 innings of work.
Santana won the American League Cy Young Award in 2004 and 2006.
