Red Wings Lose Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson for 4-6 Weeks
Published at(DETROIT) — Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after having surgery Wednesday to repair a broken finger.
Ericsson broke the middle finger in his left hand Tuesday in the second period of Detroit’s win over Toronto.
The 30-year-old Ericsson has already missed 20 games this season due to a separated shoulder and two broken ribs. In the 48 games he has played, Ericsson has one goal, 10 assists, and a plus-2 rating while averaging 21:15 minutes of ice time per game.
Ericsson joins a long list of wounded Wings that includes captain Henrik Zetterberg as well as centers Pavel Datsyuk and Stephen Weiss.
