(DALLAS) — Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley will miss the rest of the season after collapsing on the bench during Monday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
“His season for participating in hockey this year is over, so he’s done,” said Dr. Robert J. Dimeff, the director of primary care sports medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Peverley, who was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat during training camp, will undergo a procedure to regulate his heart rate. The surgery was originally scheduled for the off-season.
The 31-year-old finishes the season with seven goals and 23 assists for 30 points in 62 games.
