Creighton’s McDermott Wins Wooden Award
Published at(ARLINGTON, Texas) — Creighton senior forward Doug McDermott won the John R. Wooden Award, which is given to the player of the year, Friday.
McDermott led the nation in scoring this season with 26.7 points per game while making 52.6 percent of his shots from the field. He also averaged seven rebounds per game and hit 44.9 percent of his 214 3-point attempts.
With McDermott leading the way, Creighton made the NCAA tournament for the third-straight season, this year losing in the third round to Baylor.
McDermott finishes his college career fifth on the all-time scoring list with 3,150 points.
