(POCATELLO, ID) – A mortar shell dating back to World War II was found at the Pocatello Regional Airport Tuesday.  Officials believe the 60 mm device was an M69 training round. The airport was used as a military base in the 1940s for heavy bomber squadrons. The mortar was found in a section of the airport that was formerly used for training ordnance teams and live-fire exercises. A bomb squad was called in to dispose of the shell Tuesday evening. No injuries were reported.
