The apparent case of fast food road rage unfolded Saturday after police said Howard Carl Wilson, 68, became irate when another car pulled ahead of him after ordering.

Police said witnesses reported that Wilson was yelling profanities and racial slurs before he approached the vehicle in front of him and confronted passenger Brittani Thomas.

A video of the altercation that was taken by another customer waiting in the drive-thru shows Thomas opening the door to ask what was wrong and then attempting to close it multiple times while the man in the video continued yelling.

As the other vehicles moved up in line, the man in the video then reached into the vehicle and punched Thomas in the face before leaving the scene.

Police said they later caught up with Wilson at his home and that after watching the video, he realized the situation was more intense than he had recalled and said it was “like a road rage incident.”

Wilson was charged with simple battery and was booked into the Polk County Jail. He has since been released on bond and has not yet entered a plea.
