Grand Jury Indicts Director, Producers in February Death of Camera Assistant
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — The director and producers of a film about the life of one of the Allman brothers have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the on-set death of a camera assistant in February.
Camera assistant Sarah Jones was killed on-set in a train accident in Wayne County, Ga. in February. She had been working on the film Midnight Rider, a Greg Allman biopic.
Prosecutors on Thursday charged director Randall Miller and two of the film’s producers with involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass in her death, as they did not have a permit to work on the train tracks. Each face up to 10 years in prison.
Seven other crew members were also injured in the accident, which occurred on the first day of filming.
