(REXBURG, ID) – Madison County has the youngest median age of any county in the United States. Local News 8 reports that the county’s median age is 23, compared to 38 nationally. An estimated 70 percent of the county is under the age of 30, and Madison Memorial Hospital reports as many as 1,600 births per year. Officials attribute those numbers to BYU-Idaho students, many of whom get married and start families while still attending college. Madison County was also recently ranked the healthiest county in the Gem State.
