White House Extends ‘Heartfelt Condolences’ to Family of Passengers on Air Algerie Flight
Published at(WASHINGTON) — The White House issued a statement on Air Algerie Flight 5017 on Saturday, offering condolences to the families of those onboard.
“We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to all those who lost loved ones,” the statement from Deputy National Security Council Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan read. “We appreciate the close cooperation among the United Nations as well as the governments of France, Mali, the Netherlands, Algeria, Burkina Faso, and others who worked in concert on the swift and coordinated international response to this tragic event.”
The jetliner — owned by Spanish company Swiftair and leased by Algeria’s flagship carrier — had 110 passengers and six crew members on board.
