Indians Place C Yan Gomes On 7-Day Disabled List

iStockphoto(CLEVELAND) — The Cleveland Indians placed catcher Yan Gomes on the seven-day disabled list Saturday because of a concussion.
Gomes suffered the injury during Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins when he took a foul ball off his mask.
In 109 games this season, Gomes his batting .284 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has scored 52 runs and has an OBP of .324.
To take Gomes’ spot on the roster, the Indians acquired catcher Chris Gimenez from the Texas Rangers for future considerations. In 34 games with this season, he’s hitting .262 with 11 RBIs.
