Idaho Falls (29-26, 9-8) got the offense rolling in the first inning. Helena trotted out Cy Sneed, the brother of 2012 and 2013 Chukars member Zeb Sneed. The Twin Falls, ID native struggled from the start, allowing a two run double to Robert Pehl to get Idaho Falls on the board. Samir Duenez singled home Pehl to make it 3-0 after the first inning.
Brawlun Gomez made it 5-1 with a two run home run to left field. The Chukars were without a home run in the previous six games. Gomez later tripled, and singled, giving him a chance at a cycle. The right-fielder walked with the bases loaded in the eighth inning in his final shot at completing the cycle. Gomez finished 3-4 with three runs batted in.
Idaho Falls used big innings to increase their lead. Luis Ortega allowed four runs in the sixth, and five more in the eighth. Corey Toups reached base a season high six times, going 3 for 3 with three walks. Every Chukars starter reached base at least once.
On the mound, Eric Skoglund allowed only one run through his first three innings. Eric Stout (4-0) picked up another run, following Skoglund with three scoreless innings.
The Chukars continue their seven game road trip by playing game one of the four game series against the Missoula Osprey Friday. Jake Newberry is scheduled to pitch for Idaho Falls.
