In the movie, Helen Mirren plays the fussy French owner of an acclaimed restaurant whose life — both personally and gastronomically — is turned upside down when a family-owned Indian establishment moves in right next door.

The film had its premiere in New York City Monday night, and on the red carpet, Spielberg said teaming up with Winfrey again was a no-brainer. “Oh, she’s a wonderful collaborator, a wonderful partner…we’re truly great friends for 30 years,” he said.

Given the movie’s lavish, hunger-inducing shots of amazing dishes, asking Oprah to name her favorite food was a no-brainer. “I’m a truffle freak,” she exclaimed. “I mean I walk around with truffle salt, that’s on my rider for the hotels; truffle salt, truffle oil. I want to go to Alba and do the truffle hunt with the pigs.”

The Hundred-Foot Journey, which also stars Charlotte Le Bon and Manish Dayal, opens nationwide Friday.
