Pierce Brosnan Regrets Turning Down Batman Role
Published at(NEW YORK) — Pierce Brosnan admitted one of his career regrets in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session Wednesday. The Bond actor revealed he once turned down the role of Batman in Tim Burton’s 1989 film.
During the online Q&A, a fan asked: “You were a great Bond but I always thought you’d make for a great Batman. Were you ever approached for that role?”
He answered that he was, but at the time he just couldn’t get on board with a superhero who “wore his underpants outside his pants.”
“That was my foolish take on it. It was a joke, I thought,” the 61-year-old said.
The role of Burton’s Batman ultimately went to Michael Keaton.
Brosnan’s latest film, The November Man, hits theaters next Wednesday.
