Teacher Charged with DUI Suspended

(POCATELLO, ID) – A Pocatello teacher has been suspended indefinitely for a controversial DUI arrest last May.
Amy Smith was charged with a felony for the crash, which injured a crossing guard at Edahow Elementary School.
Smith had multiple previous DUI convictions, but her attorney maintains that the latest incident was the result of prescription drugs. The district notified Smith last week that she would still be paid, at least for the time being.
Several parents had also requested that their children be transferred out of the third grade class she’d been slated to teach this year.
