Arizona Defeats California, 49-45, on a Hail Mary

Photodisc/Thinkstock(TUCSON, Ariz.) — Wildcats freshman quarterback Anu Solomon connected with senior wide receiver Austin Hill on a 47-yard Hail Mary as time expired to give Arizona (4-0) a 49-45 victory over California (2-1) on Saturday night.
Arizona was trailing Cal 45-30 with 5:21 to play in the game, but senior running back Terris Jones-Grisby scored on a six-yard run and Solomon found sophomore wide receiver Cayleb Jones for a 15-yard touchdown to cut the Wildcats’ deficit to two with 2:44 left.
Solomon finished the game 47 of 73 for 520 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions, while Jones had 13 receptions for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Hill also contributed eight receptions for 127 yards and two TD’s.
