After initially declining to honor the late comedienne, the Broadway League — that’s the group that represents Broadway theaters and producers — has bowed to pressure to dim the lights on the Great White Way Tuesday evening in Rivers’ honor.

“Joan Rivers loved Broadway and we loved her,” the Broadway League said in a statement provided to ABC News. “Due to the outpouring of love and respect for Joan Rivers from our community and from her friends and fans worldwide, the marquees of Broadway theaters in New York will be dimmed in her memory tonight, at exactly 6:45pm for one minute.”

Jordan Roth, president of the Jujamcyn Theater chain, was already on record saying his theaters would dim their lights in Rivers’ honor.  Jujamcyn Theaters are currently home to four hit Broadway musicals: The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, and recent Tony winner A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

Rivers last starred on Broadway in 1994 in her show Sally Marr…and Her Escorts.
