US Job Growth Fell to 142,000 in August
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Job growth in the United States was below expectations in August, according to the new employment report by the Labor Department.
The U.S. economy added 142,000 jobs in August, which is well below most projections and the year-to-date average.
The report ends a six-month streak when jobs growth registered above 200,000.
According to the report, the unemployment rate ticked lower by a tenth of a percent to 6.1%.
Th jobs that were created in August were mainly in professional and business services, health care, and construction.
