But the singer didn’t.

TMZ reports Brown has settled two outstanding civil cases against him, one of them related to the charges in D.C.

Brown pleaded guilty on Sept. 2 to misdemeanor assault in that case, but the man he was accused of punching outside a Washington, D.C. hotel a year ago this month just got a check from Brown for about $100,000 to drop his related civil suit. It’s a win for Brown, considering the victim was asking for a reported $1.5 million.

You’ve got to go back nearly two years for the other case. Remember Brown’s supposed brawl with Frank Ocean in January of 2013? Brown was accused of punching Ocean in the parking lot of a Los Angeles-area recording studio, reportedly over a parking space. Prosecutors didn’t find enough evidence to press charges and Ocean himself declined to do the same. His cousin, however, wasn’t as forgiving, and sued Brown for $3 million.

TMZ claims Brown just settled that case as well, for the bargain price of $20,000, if not less.

Brown’s most recent news has been all good. He received a positive progress report from the courts last week in his continuing probation for assaulting Rihanna nearly five years ago. That probation reportedly ends in January. He also leads all nominees for the 2014 Soul Train Awards, taking place Nov. 7.
