DEA Confirms Arrest of ‘One of History’s Most Notorious Drug Traffickers’

fotokon/iStockphoto/Thinkstock(MEXICO CITY) — The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said on Thursday that drug lord Vincente Carrillo-Fuentes, “one of history’s most notorious drug traffickers,” had been arrested.
The announcement was made by DEA administrator Michele Leonhart, who noted that as the leader of the Juarez Cartel, Carrillo-Fuentes, “facilitated murder and violence in Mexico while fueling addiction in the United States and across the world.” The DEA offered praise for the Government of Mexico, which reportedly took Carrillo-Fuentes into custody.
“Once again,” Leonhart said, “our valiant partners in Mexico who pursue these dangerous criminals should be lauded for their efforts.”
