The solid bronze statue, weighing around 20 pounds and standing about two feet tall, was stolen from its pedestal in the Academy’s Hall of Fame Plaza, according to police.

The statue was part of an outdoor exhibit featuring several other classic television personalities.

Sullivan hosted a variety show on CBS from 1948 to 1971. The Ed Sullivan Show originated from the Manhattan theater that David Letterman’s Late Show has called home since 1993. Sullivan died in 1974.

Police are investigating the theft.
