Elk Poached in Grand Teton National Park
Published at | Updated at(JACKSON, WY) – Two western Wyoming men have admitted to poaching a bull elk in Grand Teton National Park Sunday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Rex Geldert and 22-year-old Tyson Lopez, both of Lyman, were intoxicated when they shot the elk early Sunday near Moran Junction. Geldert shot the animal at the request of Lopez as the elk was crossing U.S. Highway 26 at around 3 a.m.
Both suspects are facing misdemeanor poaching charges. They’ve been ordered to serve a week in jail and pay $10,000 in fines.
