Man Committed Suicide in Police Custody

(BLACKFOOT, ID) – Blackfoot Police have released the name of a man who fatally stabbed himself two months ago. Kyle Eddington was arrested for an alleged probation violation the evening of July 31.
Authorities say Eddington was handcuffed with his hands in front of him, which allowed him to grab a kitchen knife at his home and stab himself. He died the next day at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
The incident was independently investigated by the Pocatello Police Department.
A man who was with Eddington at the time of his arrest, Zane Boekholder, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
