NYC Dept. of Investigation Opens Inquiry into Mayoral Top Aide
Published at(NEW YORK) — New York City’s Department of Investigation is opening an inquiry into a mayoral aide after the employee failed to disclose key information during a background check.
Rachel Noerdlinger, chief of staff to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, omitted her relationship with an ex-con, the New York Times reports.
An official briefed on the matter confirmed the probe to ABC News on Friday.
In a questionnaire required by the investigation department prior to her employment, Noerdlinger did not include Hassaun McFarlan as a cohabitant. McFarlan, who has a criminal record that includes manslaughter, has also made controversial statements on social media against law enforcement.
