“Saturday Night Live” Vet Jan Hooks Dead at 57
Published at(NEW YORK) — Saturday Night Live cast member Jan Hooks has died, ABC News has confirmed.
TMZ reports that Hooks had been battling a “serious illness.” She was 57.
Hooks was an SNL cast member from 1986 to 1991. She worked with some of the show’s biggest names, including Chris Farley, Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey. During her time on the show, she was best known for being one half of the singing Sweeney Sisters with Nora Dunn, but she also portrayed Sinead O’Connnor, Hillary Clinton, Tammy Faye Bakker, Kathie Lee Gifford, Diane Sawyer and more.
After SNL, Hooks joined the cast of Designing Women for the show’s final two seasons. Her movie work included Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, and 1992’s Batman Returns.
Her most recent television role was on 30 Rock in 2010, playing Verna, the mother of Jane Krakowski’s character, Jenna Maroney.
