SEC West Dominates New AP Poll
Published at(NEW YORK) — In the latest Associated Press college football poll, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) reached a new level of dominance. Four of the top five teams in the country all reside in the SEC, the first time a single conference can boast such a feat.
Mississippi State (6-0) remained the number one team in the land while Ole Miss (7-0) remains third. Alabama (6-1) jumped up to fourth in the poll, thanks to a 59-0 rout over then 21st-ranked Texas A&M, with Auburn (5-1) rounding out the top-five.
The lone team not from the SEC in the top-five is Florida State (7-0) of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Seminoles held off Notre Dame on Saturday, which dropped to seventh with the loss.
The Oregon Ducks (6-1) sit at sixth in the nation while the Irish (6-1) dropped two spots to seventh. Michigan State (6-1), Georgia (6-1), and TCU (6-1) finish out the top-10 teams.
Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Stanford all fell from the AP Top-25 Poll after week seven.
