Kurt Busch Facing Domestic Violence Accusations
Published at(DOVER, Del.) — NASCAR driver Kurt Busch is under investigation by the Dover Police Department for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Patricia Driscoll claims that Busch smashed her head into the wall of a motorhome at a race. The last time a NASCAR race was held in Dover was during the weekend of September 26-28.
Driscoll is the president of the Armed Forces Foundation, a non-profit for United States Veterans. She is also an executive for a defense consulting firm based in Washington D.C.
Busch is the 2004 Sprint Cup Champion. He is known among the racing community as the “The Outlaw,” for his run-ins with other drivers; both on the track and off. Busch has also had altercations with non-drivers. In 2011 a fan recorded Busch verbally abusing an ESPN reporter. NASCAR fined him $50,000 and suspended him for one race.
Driscoll has also filed for a restraining order to keep Busch away from her and her son Houston. Driscoll claims that Busch was upset after a poor qualifying run on the night of September 26, leading to the incident in question. Driscoll has requested that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
According to the documents, Driscoll states that Busch “was verbally abusive to her and said he wished he had a gun so that he could kill himself.”
