Markets Post All-Time Highs Following Republican Victories on Election Night
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — The markets climbed one day after an Election Night in which Republicans snatched control of the Senate, with two of the major indices reaching all-time highs.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 17,484.53, a record, up 100.69 from Tuesday’s close.
The Nasdaq slipped 2.92 to a finish of 4,620.72, while the S&P jumped to a record 2,023.57, gaining 11.47 on the day.
Also on Wednesday, payroll processor ADP released jobs numbers for October that indicate companies added 230,000 jobs — the most in four months.
