Robin Williams’ Death Officially Ruled a Suicide

Art Streiber/CBS© 2013 CBS Broadcasting Inc.(SAN RAFAEL, Calif.) — The Marin County Sheriff’s Office in California has concluded its investigation into the death of Robin Williams, with its Coroner Division determining that the actor and comedian committed suicide.
The Coroner Division noted in a statement released Friday afternoon that the cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.
A toxicological evaluation showed no evidence of alcohol or illicit drug use. The statement added that prescription medications were detected in “therapeutic concentrations.”
Williams died in his Marin County home on Aug. 11. He was 63.
