Why the World Could Be Running Out of Chocolate

According to Bloomberg News, disease, drought, new markets and displacement of cacao plants have led to unbalanced supply and demand. In 2020, Bloomberg says, the gap between how much chocolate the world wants and how much it will produce will reach one million metric tons.
The growing popularity of dark chocolate may also play a role. Dark chocolate requires more cacao than milk chocolate does.
