Attorney: BYU Student to Plead in Meth Lab Case
Published at | Updated atPROVO, Utah (AP) – A Brigham Young University student accused of making methamphetamine in his room is expected to take a plea deal in the case.
His lawyer told a judge Wednesday that BYU student Bryce Cazier plans to enter a plea at his next court date Jan. 14.
Attorney Jere Reneer says Cazier was using a lab setup in his room to make soap and essential oil extracts, but he acknowledged the student also had suspicious materials.
The 22-year-old faces a felony count of operating a clandestine lab.
Provo police say the investigation started after Cazier’s roommates found suspicious glassware and chemicals when they picked his lock after a fire started in his room.
The Daily Herald of Provo reports that investigators say they also found meth on his laptop.
