Cardinals Place Andre Ellington on IR
Published at(GLENDALE, Ariz.) — The Arizona Cardinals have lost another offensive weapon.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that running back Andre Ellington will have surgery Monday to repair a sports hernia. Ellington has been placed on the injured reserve.
The news of Ellington’s injury comes just weeks after the team lost starting quarterback Carson Palmer for the season with a torn ACL.
Ellington played in 12 games this season, gaining 1,055 all-purpose yards while scoring five touchdowns.
Second-year back Kerwynn Williams is expected to get the bulk of the carries with Ellington out.
