Harbaugh, who just left his job as the San Francisco 49ers head coach Sunday, heads back to Michigan, where he played quarterback and led the Wolverines to the 1987 Rose Bowl.

Harbaugh has had success wherever he’s been a head coach: from 2007 to 2010 he coached Stanford, turning around a program that had won only one game the season before he arrived, to a team that won 12 games the season he left. He then spent four years as the 49ers head coach, taking the team to three straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Harbaugh will be introduced as Michigan’s next football coach at a news conference at noon Tuesday.
