Social media has been filled with speculation around the 88-second teaser that opens to a chilling voice-over saying “There’s been an awakening, have you felt it?”

The trailer also shows a new character that looks to be a villain from the “dark side” with a new kind of lightsaber.

The trailer, it turns out, contains only 39 seconds of actual footage from the movie.

Star Wars fans wondering who is behind the 15 seconds of a mystery voice-over now have an answer: it is Andy Serkis, the British actor who played Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films.

What role Serkis is playing in The Force Awakens has not been revealed.

Close watchers of the trailer also may have noticed a familiar sound at the end of the clip. That sound is the sound of Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from the first Star Wars film, from 1977.

The official title for the seventh Star Wars film was just released earlier this month and the full movie is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015. Filming of the movie wrapped about a month ago.

In addition to the original stars like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, Episode VII will feature a slew of newbies, including Girls star Adam Driver and Oscar nominee Max von Sydow. Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones have also joined the cast.

Star Wars is produced by Lucasfilm, which is owned by The Walt Disney Co., which also owns ABC News.
