Vice President Biden Says Cops’ Killing ‘Touched the Nation’

459400328?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1419695368425iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Vice President Joe Biden called the New York Police Department the finest in the world, speaking Saturday at the funeral for Officer Rafael Ramos, one of two cops who were killed last weekend as they sat in their car.

“I’ve spoken at too many funerals for too many police officers. Too many funerals… for brave women and men, who kept us safe,” Biden said.

“They were a part of New York’s finest, and that not an idle phrase,” he said. “This is probably the finest police department in the world, the finest police department in the world. They earn that praise.”

He said that the killing, termed an “assassination” by city officials, reached beyond the city.

“When an assassin’s bullet targeted two officers, it targeted this city and it touched the soul of the entire nation,” Biden said.
